Brandon Hill Chamber Orchestra 25th Anniversary Concert - 4th February at 19.45
Submitted by jeff on Wed, 01/04/2012 - 11:28.On 4th February 2012 the Brandon Hill Chamber Orchestra celebrates 25 years of music making with a concert featuring its founding musical director Grant Llewellyn - now artistic director of the North Carolina Symphony - and the brilliant young pianist Tom Poster.
The programme opens with the bracing Trauer (Mourning) Symphony, considered by Haydn himself to be one of his finest – he asked for its slow movement to be played at his funeral – and concludes with Beethoven’s spirited Second Symphony, composed in 1802 wit

Whilst not wanting to hasten the end of the summer (such as it is!) we wanted to give you good notice of the next Brandon Hill Chamber Orchestra concert which is on Saturday 8th October at 7.45pmat St George's.
The main feature of the programme is Beethoven's rarely heard triple concerto for piano, violin and cello. We are delighted to welcome the prize-winning del mar trio as soloists.
The programme starts with Mendelssohn's Ruy Blas overture and ends with more Beethoven - his 2nd Symphony.
